Reverend Cynthia JacksonCynthia was born to The Reverend Isaac Whitehead, Jr. and Mrs. Hattie Whitehead of Athens, Georgia. She is a 2005 graduate of the University of Georgia where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a minor in Sociology. Cynthia is also a 2011 graduate of Candler School of Theology at Emory University where she earned a Master of Divinity degree with a concentration in Church and Community Leadership.

Prior to making the transition to the United Methodist Church, Cynthia served as an Associate Minister at First Baptist Church (Gainesville, Georgia) under the leadership of her father, Pastor Isaac Whitehead, Jr. She also served at The Greater Piney Grove Baptist Church (Atlanta, Georgia), Rev. Dr. William E. Flippin, Senior Pastor.

In 2014, Cynthia and her family became members of Kelley Chapel United Methodist Church. She had the pleasure of serving under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Derrick R. Rhodes, Senior Pastor. Cynthia worked with several ministries to include Senior’s Ministry, Noon Day Bible Study, Administration, and New Members Orientation.

In 2017, Cynthia received her first appointment as Assistant Pastor at Conyers First United Methodist Church. She served under the leadership of Rev. Dr. David Benson, Senior Pastor. While there, her responsibilities included preaching, worship leader, staff support, and pastoral care. In June 2018, Cynthia was commissioned as a Provisional Elder and is excited and to serve as Associate Pastor at Ben Hill United Methodist Church.

Cynthia is married to Marcus Jackson. Marcus holds a Masters degree in Education and works as a high school math teacher and football coach. They are the proud parents of daughter, Peyton and son Marcus Jr. Cynthia is a board member for the Athens StepUp Scholarship Fund and Iron Sharpens Iron Ministry of Christian Leaders. She is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. Her hobbies include traveling, cooking, and writing children’s books.
